Not technically poetic, but this is my site ;-) Whenever I see something I like, I tend to try it out. Here's my fifty-word fiction. Check out the website from which the idea came.
She ran away as everyone watched. It was too hard to think; she could only do. Maybe one day she could come back. If they ever stopped laughing.
Her legs were moving on their own; she had no control. When would they stop? Tune in next week to find out.

Trouble is, It only has 49 words.
Sorry to contradict, but I just rechecked it, by computer (Word Count in MS Word) and by actually counting, and I got 50 words both ways. I do try to be careful, and I check before I post. Maybe you missed one of the short words?
Here's another annoying counting problem. How many times does the letter "f" appear in the following?
Finished files are the result of years of scientific study, combined with years of experience.
There are six. Most people miss the f's in "of".
